Canyon Rats: Red Canyon Slot

About 8 miles north of the scenic town of Kanab on highway 89, sits Peek-A-Boo slot canyon (also known as Red Canyon). The hike from the trailhead follows a sandy 4-wheel drive track that winds through desert and dunes for about 4 miles. Walking in the soft, deep sand challenges calf muscles. Hiking in, exploring the short slot, and hiking back to the trailhead takes approximately three and a half hours.

Canyon Rats: Bull Valley Slot Canyon

Bull Valley slot

A uniquely moving hiking experience, Utah canyons and slot canyons begged to be experienced. We make it one of our life goals to explore as many as possible.

Each canyon, unique in color, depth, and texture provides eye-popping beauty and fun for the adventurous spirit. Hikers rank canyons from easy to difficult depending on obstacles one has to overcome.

We spend idyllic days among the beautiful carved Utah canyons..... nature's art museum.

This is a picture journal of our day in Bull Valley slot canyon, Utah.

In 1954, a truck on the road at the top of the canyon crashed killing three men.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Camp spot at Peek A Boo TH

Parking the RV at the Peek-A-Boo trailhead makes it easy to explore the area around Kanab, Utah and convenient to participate in "The Wave" lottery each morning.

We start our day with bagels and coffee at Jakey Leigh's Coffee Shop in Kanab, show up for the lottery at the ranger station at 9am, and then head out to explore.
